Welcome to the website of La Mer – a pension where you can enjoy French cuisine in Goshiki, Sumoto in Hyogo Prefecture!
“Le mer” means “sea” in French. As our name suggests, we provide hospitality with French cuisine made using plenty of seasonal ingredients from Awaji Island in our pension that stands on the coast by the sea.
You can stay in your preferred room from the five types of room we offer. Please soothe the tiredness of your trip in our reservable open-air bath facing the garden.
We are a small pension with a total of five rooms. However, we aim to provide meticulous hospitality from our hearts. Please stop by when you visit Awaji Island!
We do not have any English-speaking members of staff. However, we would be delighted if we can help you have a fun trip.

We provide hospitality with full course French meals made using the best ingredients that you can only taste on Awaji Island.
Please enjoy your meal with your preferred wine. We prepare Western food for breakfast.

We have five different types of guest room available. We have one room available in each type.

Japanese-style Bedroom

Please relax with colors of an Asian flavor, a low bed and Ryukyu tatami mats.

This is a Western-style bedroom modeled a bit like a boat because it is close to the sea.

We recommend this room for those who do not like communal baths because it comes with a modular bath.

*We do not have pajamas available. (There are yukatas (light cotton kimonos) for adults in all the rooms.)

Bathroom

Reservable Open Air Bath

This is a bath with an open atmosphere facing the garden. There are two types of bathtub. You can reserve and use either type. The bathing time is limited to 50 minutes per group. Please inform us of your desired time when you check-in.
Garden Open Bath

You can enjoy a relaxing bath while looking out over the flower bed that blooms in profusion from season to season.

Himantaria-no Yu

This is a natural salt bath with seaweed ingredients that are the specialty of Brittany in France – the home of thalassotherapy (marine therapy). You can expect Himantaria-no Yu in La Mer to be effective in recovering from dry and rough skin, recovering from fatigue and relieving stress.
